Dubuque, IA—Jeff Winter accepted the first annual Waugh Award at IIW’s Annual Holiday Party on January 18, 2020, at the Grand River Center.

The Waugh Award was created in honor of IIW’s co-founder, Dennis Waugh, who retired last year after 37 years with the company. The award recognizes an individual that supports and furthers IIW’s Mission-Vision-Values, while exhibiting the traits of Waugh, including passion, generosity, helping others to improve, leading by example, IIW ambassador, and loyalty. All IIW employee-owners are eligible, and any employee-owner can make the nomination.

Seven nominations were received for the Waugh Award. Winter was selected for the award because he is devoted, committed, kind, and is a true ambassador for IIW.

As described in the nomination, “If we could all come to work every day the way Jeff interacts with at least me, this company would be an even better place to work. Jeff is the definition of IIW’s culture.”

Winter, a Survey Crew Chief and IIW’s longest tenured IIW employee-owner at 35 years, accepted the award from Pat Ready, Director of Engineering Operations at IIW. “When I think of Jeff, I think of all the traits the award represents--passionate, generous, helpful, trustworthy, and loyal. I can’t think of anyone more deserving,” said Ready.

Jeff’s daughter, Lauren Winter, was in attendance to see her dad accept the award.

When asked how he felt about receiving the award, Jeff said, “I never thought I would have received the award and feel very fortunate. It’s especially an honor with it being the first ever Waugh Award. I’m grateful to work with all of the great people at IIW—it’s the people that make IIW such a great company to work for.”

Congratulations, Jeff!
