Acquisition / Right-of-Way Plats

We define the right-of-way limits for public and private use, which is important to the success of any linear project.

Origin Design’s Land Survey team regularly assists State, County and Local governments to prepare acquisition and right-of-way plats for expansion projects, including roadways, bridges and railroads. Our team also regularly assists utility companies to locate existing right-of-way for projects, such as major gas pipelines, electric and communications.

The process in performing this work may include:

  • Locating existing right-of-way from records that establish road right-of-ways.
  • Researching State, County and Local government records.
  • Preparing necessary acquisition and right-of-way plats.
  • Preparing legal descriptions.
  • Preparing temporary and permanent easement exhibits.
  • Field locating existing survey monumentation.
  • Setting final right-of-way survey monumentation.
  • Establishing roadway alignments.

Last week some of our engineers attended the Dubuque Gate & Pump Station Flood Mitigation Project Kick-Off! We're excited to be partnering with the City of Dubuque, Iowa, Portzen Construction and more on this phase of the Bee Branch Watershed Flood Mitigation Project.

The new facility will include a new flood gate, four new 100,000 gallon per minute pumps (double the capacity of the existing facility), new electrical service, and the installation of back-up generators.
